Jewels & Jeans 2019
Each spring we host an annual event, Jewels & Jeans—a fun and exciting way to help with our cause. You can participate by purchasing tickets, sponsoring a table, or donating items and services for our silent auction.
Dear Foundation Supporters,
I wanted to extend a sincere Thank You to all the individuals and organizations who made Jewels & Jeans 2019 a successful event. We could not have done it without you! Board members and volunteers went all out with their coordination and advanced preparations for this year’s event. As always, we had generous sponsors, donors and attendees. Students, teachers and schools in the Beaufort County School District will benefit as the money we raised this year will enable us to fund many Innovative Teacher Grants, School Resource Grants, and Student Enrichment Grants.
We have been awarding grants since 2009, and to date have given over $200,000 to deserving teachers and schools. These grants benefit thousands of students as teachers and schools provide innovative learning opportunities! It is through your generosity that this is possible.
I wanted to thank the Carbiener family who continue to fund the Dr. Wayne Carbiener Above and Beyond Award, which is presented each year to the BCSD District Teacher of the Year. Their generosity is boundless. The fabulous “Frozen” decorated tree featured in our Live Auction was donated by Dr. Carbiener’s daughter, Jody Dreyer. Dr. Carbiener’s son, Michael, donated a Secession Golf Package this year. It was so popular that Mike donated a second package during the live auction so a second bidder could go home happy!
A special thank you to our 2019 Peggy May Inspiration Award honoree, Dr. Jane Upshaw. She is truly an inspiration to all of us.
As always, our sponsors and Jewels & Jeans Silent and Live Auction donors have opened their hearts to our students through their generous donations. Janice Gray’s T-Shirt quilt is such a beautiful and unique item. Orchid Paulmeier continues to wow the Lowcountry with her food and enrich our Live Auction with her donation of a private dinner cooked in the comfort of your home. We thank Heritage Jewelers for their donation of a stunning necklace. Thanks to the Country Club of Hilton Head for providing the venue and Sodexo Food Services for their donation of delicious food. As always, the band “Deas Guys” kept us dancing all night, they are a Lowcountry treasure.
Finally, a big thank you to our generous sponsors, The Bargain Box of Hilton Head, Friends of Callawassie, the Dr. Wayne Carbiener Family, the William Cale Family and this year Women in Philanthropy. Their kindness and generosity is appreciated and will allow us to continue to provide innovative learning experiences for our Beaufort County School District students.
